Halloween doesn’t have to be scary. These two Spooky Spins throw a party for the dead, and you’re on the guest list.
Meet the two Day of the Dead slots worth opening this week: Skulls and Souls Bonanza and Soul Fiesta. Both trade gore for marigold-bright color, music and skulls painted for celebration. Short answer: open Skulls and Souls Bonanza if you like a busy, layered bonus, and Soul Fiesta if you’d rather follow a spirit train toward a big finish.
If horror isn’t your thing, this is your Halloween. It’s also worth a closer look, because Día de los Muertos is a remembrance tradition rather than a scare, and the best games treat it that way. Below: the two parties, why not-scary wins, a profile of each and which to open first at Stackr Social Casino through stackrcasino.com.
TL;DR: Skulls and Souls Bonanza is the layered Hold & Win with a second Coin Grid. Soul Fiesta is the spirit-train Hold & Win with hidden rows. Our take: the most fun Halloween games are the least scary ones, and both prove it with color over gore.
Two Day of the Dead Slots, Two Parties
Both are festive, colorful Hold & Win slots, and both sit in Spooky Spins at Stackr Social Casino. One is a bright musician’s party with a second grid. The other is a spirit-train ride with locked rows to open.
Quick definition: Day of the Dead slots are games themed on Día de los Muertos, a tradition from Mexico that remembers loved ones who have died. UNESCO inscribed the festivity in 2008 and notes it falls at the end of October into early November.

Why Do the Least Scary Halloween Games Win the Season?
Because a game you want to keep playing beats a game that makes you flinch. Color, music and warmth hold attention for a whole session in a way jump-scare art can’t.
Here’s our position, and horror fans will push back: the most fun Halloween games are the least scary ones. The counterargument is fair. Halloween is a scare holiday, and plenty of players want dread, not marigolds. We covered that camp in our Demonic Dolls vs Wicked Grin comparison. But a festive game gives you the spooky season without the knot in your stomach, and it’s far easier to play with friends watching over your shoulder. This is a taste argument, not a results argument.
The evidence is in the art. G3 Newswire describes Soul Fiesta’s look as “a colourful Day of the Dead aesthetic,” and Maxxi Labs says Skulls and Souls Bonanza brings “sugar skulls, mariachi flair and hidden treasures to the reels.” Neither leans on gore.
Picture the evening scroll. Phone brightness up, a candle-bright tile glowing in the Stackr Social Casino lobby, no dread in sight. That’s the pull.
A note on culture, too: Día de los Muertos honors the dead with warmth, so a respectful game keeps its skulls joyful and never mocking. Both of these lean that way, though only the in-game art can tell you how well each one does.
Skulls and Souls Bonanza: The Busy Party
Skulls and Souls Bonanza is a Hold & Win slot with a twist: a separate Coin Grid that sits beside the main reels. It’s the pick for players who like layers.
Per the developer’s listing, it runs a 5×5 main grid with a second 5×5 Coin Grid, and its Hold & Win round can expand from 5×5 to 5×8. Silver Coins move over to the Coin Grid, Power Mode adds respins and coins, and three or more scatters award 10 free spins. Maxxi Labs lists up to 96% RTP, and SlotCatalog and OregonLive list a 5,000x max win. Release was September 30, 2026.
A word on sources. Maxxi Labs lists very high volatility while SlotCatalog says high, and one listing credits M2Play instead of Maxxi Labs. We’re reporting both because the lobby tile may be listed as plain Skulls and Souls Bonanza. Trust the in-game panel over any article, including this one. On Stackr Social Casino it sits in Spooky Spins.
Best for: players who enjoy tracking two things at once and like a loud, musical look.
In plain terms, Hold & Win locks special coin symbols in place and gives you a set number of respins to land more. Check this game’s rules for its exact triggers, since each studio builds the feature a little differently.
Soul Fiesta: The Spirit Train Party
Soul Fiesta is a Hold & Win slot from ELA Games where phantom carriages replace standard reels on a train between the living world and the afterlife. It’s the pick for players who like a clear goal to chase.
Per G3 Newswire, random Wilds can appear at any time, glowing marigold coins can trigger the bonus and Scatters unlock Free Spins. In the Hold & Win bonus, four phantom trains each add a modifier, three rows start locked until Unlock Symbols open them, and clearing every reel summons the Golden Train. European Gaming reports two RTP settings, 94.03% and up to 95.99% RTP, with a listed max win of 5,000x and an October 22, 2026 release.
Imagine the moment: marigold coins glowing, a train pulling in and another row clicking open. It’s lively and a little theatrical, and the festive look keeps it light. Coverage describes it as high volatility, which hints at a bolder pace, though labels vary by source. Treat that as a style hint rather than a promise, and read the rules inside the game.
Best for: players who like a mechanic with a visible finish line. The Golden Train is a feature to chase, not an outcome to expect.
Which Day of the Dead Slot Should You Open First?
Open the one that matches your mood. Skulls and Souls Bonanza suits a busier, two-grid session, and Soul Fiesta suits a theatrical, one-goal session.
- Want layers and music? Start with Skulls and Souls Bonanza.
- Want the newest release? Soul Fiesta launched October 22, 2026.
- Want easy-on-the-eyes color? Both qualify, so pick the character you like most.
- Short on time? Pick one, give it a fair sample and read the paytable before you spin.
Both are Hold & Win games, so our Hold and Win slots guide explains how that bonus style works. Head to stackrcasino.com and open Spooky Spins on Stackr Social Casino, where daily bonuses top up your Gold Coins balance so you can sample both. Our Top Games roundup shows what else is featured. Keep your spin size modest, and take a break any time play stops feeling fun.
Not sure? Run a two-game session. Spend a few minutes in each at the same spin size and notice which one has you leaning in. Both list a max win of up to 5,000x, so the difference isn’t the ceiling, it’s the choreography: a two-grid juggling act versus a train with a destination. You’re comparing feel, not outcomes, so there’s no wrong answer.
Your Day of the Dead Slots Questions: Answered Honestly
What are Day of the Dead slots?
Day of the Dead slots are games themed on Día de los Muertos, a tradition from Mexico that remembers loved ones who have died. They usually feature sugar skulls, marigolds and music rather than horror. It’s a remembrance, not Halloween, so look for respectful, thoughtful treatment of the theme.
Are these slots scary?
Not in the horror sense. Both use bright festive art and skeleton characters in celebratory poses rather than gore, though taste varies. Both also list a high-volatility style, which describes pacing, not fright. If you want true dread, Demonic Dolls is the better fit.
